New Friends Group for Milton Children's Hospice

Written 02/04/04

A group of local people have got together and formed a friends group for Milton Children's Hospice. They held their inaugural meeting on February 25th when Joanne May, from Milton, was elected Chair. The group's first event is the organisation of Milton Children's Hospice Gala Day, which is scheduled to take place on Saturday 5th June at Pi Technology's Milton Hall.

Joanne said "I wanted to get involved in supporting the children's hospice because I have had personal experience of the work they do: sadly we lost my little nephew, George, there in October last year. My sister, brother-in-law and our families were so grateful for the support we were all given and continue to receive that we wanted to give something back and ensure that the help is there for other families too. My sister, mum and our friends are amongst the members and we now have a good group with eleven Friends and we are already getting things in place for Gala day."

Carol Harper Fundraising Coordinator for the hospice said "It is wonderful to have a new friends group, they are a really lovely bunch of people. Last year we did not have a Gala Day because we could not manage to get it organised and I know a lot of local people and families who use the hospice really missed it. I have seen the plans the Friends Group has in store and I'm sure it will be a very enjoyable event, I hope people will put it in their diaries now."
