Today the heavy lifting machines which will carry the bridge out across the A14 arrived and where being put in position when our photographer visited the site.

First pair of machines in position at Tesco's end
These are multi-axle machines, hydraulically powered. Each "axle" consists of four wheels in two pairs, each pair being on an axle which can be rotated, allowing the machine to crab sideways. The wheels can be raised and lowered to raise the bridge.

Second pair waiting to be driven down to the A14 end
Apparently the bridge is going to be moved sideways during the day tomorrow in preparation for the move forwards overnight.
We have earlier pictures here.
