The council met on Monday 6th November and co-opted Liz Baker and Tim Siggs as
parish councillors.
Liz lives in the Sycamores and works at the Department
of Physics and also does freelance design work. Tim lives in Pearson Court
and is a police officer and is also chairman of the Friends of Milton
Country Park.
During a long evening the council also agreed:
- to purchase the allotments and the field north of them from the County
Council for £40,000 for use in the future as recreation land.
- not to co-operate with the people behind the Waterbeach barracks
new town development
- to write to the county council re-iterating council's objections to the
extension of planning permission (this after an unsatisfactory and
inconclusive meeting with the site owners)
- to explore with the county council the possibility of making the path
behind the Sycamores and Humphries way into a public footpath (as part of
a scheme to improve the northernmost section)
Reports received include the lack of progress over improving the surface of
the Haling Way between Fen Road and the lock to allow disabled access, the
opening of the youth building, and a briefing on the Cambridge
Northern Fringe review.
