Almost three years to the day after the last raid a masked robber smashed the counter window with an axe during a raid on the post office at about 5pm yesterday. While he smashed the window and took cash a second man wielding a cricket bat, stood by the open door shouting. They were both wearing orange boiler suits and balaclavas. They then left at speed in a burgundy BMW saloon and it looks as if they drove off across the grass behind the war memorial.

Police want to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen something vital which could help the investigation. Anyone with information should contact Histon CID on (01223) 358966 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
