The Rowing Lake

For well over a decade now there has been a proposal to build a rowing lake on land between Milton and the river. This is a vast development and consists of a canal from above the lock running west under the railway line, turning onto a four boat wide section heading north under Fen Road and then opening up to an eight lane section extending up to Car Dyke Road at Waterbeach. The total length of racing water is about 3.2km.

The trust behind this proposed development, now called Cambridge Sport Lakes, have a web site online which includes a lot more information about their plans including maps.

You will find many web pages referring to the rowing lake on this web site. Click here to see search for those pages using our search engine.

Your parish council is concerned about the impact of the Rowing Lake on Milton, both during construction and afterward. In particular they remained concerned about the effect on drainage as the land on which Milton sits drains east across the land where the lake will sit and its construction could disrupt this.
