The final day's hearing at Cambourne was for the White Horse. Among other things they were applying for opening hours of 2am on Fridays and Saturdays and midnight on other days with public entertainment to match.
The only "representees" present were for this hearing was Paul Oldham representing the parish council and Richard Summerfield in his personal capacity and it was a much more confrontational hearing than on previous days.
It started well and there was some successful negotiation before the hearing began but the applicant was adamant that she wanted four live events a month rather than the two the parish council had asked for, ending at midnight, not 11pm, and 2am opening on Fridays and Saturdays.
After two hours of discussion, making it the longest hearing of the three, it finished. When the decision was announced it was a mixed result for the parish council. On the plus side the parish council got the opening hours we were asking for (so 1am Friday and Saturday, not 2am) and a request for up to twelve extra days to be treated as bank holidays (with 2am opening) was rejected. In addition the landlady had already agreed during negotiations for public entertainment to be restricted to Friday and Saturday night only so that tied in with what we were asking for.
However the parish council's request that this be only twice per month was rejected in favour of one per week. More importantly to finish by midnight rather than 11pm as we had asked.
