Lion and Lamb Licensing Application

Written 26/09/05

This application was heard today at SCDC's offices at Cambourne. When the application was first announced it caused something of a stir around the village and a lot of comments were made to SCDC as it included a request to allow live music and dancing, in the car park, until 1am.

At the hearing the applicant said that this was a mistake and her solicitor had put that in, not her, and she didn't actually want that. So that was withdrawn.

That left opening hours and public entertainment indoors as the two major issues remaining. Three people spoke to these at the hearing: two of whom were villagers with homes on the opposite side of the high street to the Lion and Lamb, and Paul Oldham spoke on behalf of the parish council.

The licensing sub-committee decided to allow opening until midnight (plus thirty minutes drinking up time) on every night of the week. Later times for bank holidays etc. No use of beer garden after 11pm. No new customers to be admitted after 11:30pm. Public entertainment to be restricted to twice a month, on Friday or Saturday night only, finishing by 11pm with door and windows closed.

So in summary this means less music nights but the pub can close an hour later.

The full decision is available online here (Adobe/PDF, 29KB).
