Under the Licensing Act 2003 all pubs, clubs and premises selling takeaway food have to apply for new licences. As part of this new regime a much more relaxed approach is going to be taken, with pubs being able to open for much longer hours. There are also changes to entertainments licences. If there are no objections from villagers then applications are likely to go through so if you do have a problem with any of the applications below be sure you comment in good time.
Here's a list of who's applying for what:
- Jolly Brewers
- No change. Continue with previous hours and conditions.
- Lion & Lamb

Opening hours:
- Mon-Sat 11:30 - 00:00
- Sun 12:00 - 00:00
- Additionally 11:30-01:00 9 times a year (e.g. Bank Holidays)
- New Year open until 01:30
Closing time 30 minutes after the above.
Public entertainment:
- Live music on 'select occasions' outside in the car park, both unamplified
and amplified, and recorded music outside occasionally.
- Recorded music, mobile DJ, karaoke indoors and out. Also indoors: films
including DVD, music videos, and pub games.
- Dancing indoors and sometimes outside in the car park
- Public Entertainment: live music licences to cover the opening hours
hours with no restrictions on the hours or number of events per month.
Any representations to be made by 3rd September 2005
- Milton Community Centre
- Variation to allow for occasional bars on evenings other than Friday and Saturday.
- Milton Country Park
- Are apparently going to apply for a new licence for their live music events and possibly for bar facilities at the Visitor Centre. They don't have a licence currently as they rely on occasional licences so they haven't put in their application yet.
- Milton Primary School
- No change. Continue with previous hours and conditions.
- One Stop shop
- No change. Continue with previous hours and conditions.
- Tescos
- Requesting permission for sale of alcohol in accordance with their opening hours in general.
Any representations to be made by 27th August 2005
- Unicorn House Takeaway
- Open until 11:30 on Mon, Wed and Thu, until 11:45 Fri and Sat, and until 10:45 on Sun.
- Waggon & Horses

Opening hours:
- Mon-Thu 10:00 - 00:00
- Fri-Sat 10:00 - 01:00
- Sun 12:00 - 00:00
Closing time 30 minutes after the above.
Garden closes at midnight.
Public Entertainment: live music licences to cover the opening hours with no restrictions on the hours or number of events per month.

- White Horse

Opening hours:
- Mon-Wed 11:00 - 00:00
- Thu 11:00 - 01:00
- Fri-Sat 11:00 - 02:00
- Sun 12:00-00:00
- Additionally 11:00-02:00 18 times a year (e.g. Bank Holiday weekends and twelve other days a year)
- New Year open all night
An extra hour on the day that British Summer Time begins. Hot food and
drink will be sold also in the 30 mins after alcohol sales stop.
Closing time 30 minutes after the above.
Public entertainment:
- Live music - up to 2 performers with keyboards, occasionally unamplified. Windows closed from 22:00 when there is live music.
- Dance performances indoors, jukebox, karaoke, DJ etc.
