Two and a half years after it first opened the parish council agreed last night to remove the half pipe which forms the main part of the skate park on the Sycamores.

This is the end of a long and sorry saga and the manufacturers and installers Clever Curves don't come out of it very well. Councillors were unhappy with the initial installation and getting them back in to fix problems has been difficult.

The last straw was their failure to come out to quote for the latest round of problems, which lead to councillors calling in another company who quoted over £3,000 to fix them, with no guarantee as to how long the repairs would last. Councillors felt this was throwing good money after bad and at last night's parish council meeting agreed to remove it on safety grounds unless SCDC (the major funder) objected.
