Two years after the last raid on our post office it was hit again late yesterday afternoon when
two men wearing balaclavas burst in at 5.30pm and one using an iron bar attempted to smash his way through the security glass while shouting to be allowed behind the counter. Staff refused and an engineer, who was in the shop upgrading the alarm system, hit the panic button sending an alert direct to the police.
The robbers fled empty-handed and threw the bar away outside the shop before making off in a silver BMW registration L468 NSS. The car was stolen from Cambridge railway station on Tuesday and police are keen to find trace it.
None of the staff were hurt but the post office side of the business will be closed today while repairs are being made. The rest of the shop remains open for business.
Anyone with information about the latest incident can call the police on 0845 456 4564 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
