Problems on the Bridge

Written 17/01/05

There have been two incidents on the Jane Coston bridge in the last few days. As reported in Cambridge Evening News last Thursday a young man jumped from the bridge onto the A14. He is now in hospital with serious injuries.

In an unrelated incident someone was asked for £20 to cross the bridge and when they refused was assaulted with some substance thrown in their face. This incident was reported to the police and has been taken up with the Chief Constable by Cllr Coston.

These and related incidents re-enforce the need for CCTV cameras on the bridge, something which the County Council reneged upon last Summer (see parish council minute 236/04 (Adobe/PDF, 124KB)).

Your local councillors will be pressing the case for them again.
