COUNTY BUS CHANGES RATIFIED

In a letter (MS/Word, 315KB) from the Cambridgeshire County Council, we have been informed that the proposed bus changes have been ratified despite the recent public consultation, in which many parish councils (including Milton) and bus users made strong representations against the changes. Therefore, the evening and Sunday journeys of the No 9 bus will be deregistered from Sunday 17th April 2011.  (01/04/11)

PETITION TO SAVE CAMBS LIBRARIES

A number of people from several local libraries, in the city and county, met recently and have set up an online petition to oppose the current proposals to reduce the library service across Cambridgeshire. The show is hosted by comedian John Bishop and incorporates the stories, opinions and experiences of ordinary people from all walks of life and from every corner of Britain. They're searching for a diverse group of interesting people to contribute their personal stories and views to the programme - from local sports groups to farmers to city bankers. DISABLED CHILDREN'S ACCESS TO CHILDCARE

The Cambridgeshire County Council Disabled Children's Access to Childcare (DCATCH) project is aimed at supporting parents/carers of disabled children in accessing suitable childcare; enabling them the chance of returning to employment and/or training. NEW HIGHWAYS REPORTING SYSTEM

Cambridgeshire County Council has set up a new Highways online reporting system. They are particularly keen that people start using this and the contact Centre number (0345 045 5212) rather than fixmystreet, or other national websites, as the reports go straight to their inspectors. Are you interested in helping a research team across the country find out how to help those with diabetes look after their diabetes better? RAPSID (Randomised Controlled Trial of Peer Support in Diabetes) is carrying out a trial across Cambridgeshire communities to see whether better support for those with diabetes can improve their health and reduce the likelihood of long-term complications. WILDLIFE WATCH

Explore your local wildlife with Wildlife Watch, the junior branch of The Wildlife Trusts and the UK's leading action club for young people interested in learning about wildlife in their local environment. If you care about nature and the environment and want to explore your local wildlife this is the club for you. Cambridge Wildlife Watch Group meets on the first Saturday of every month at Milton Country Park and the next meeting will be next Saturday morning 5th February. The theme is "House the birds?" and the activities will include making bird boxes and bird feeders, taking a stroll round the lakes to look for any feathered winter visitors. TV SWITCHOVER VOLUNTEERS SOUGHT

Cambridgeshire ACRE is supporting the local roll-out of the Switchover Help Scheme which aims to help people to understand the changes to how our television signal will be received from the end of March 2011 onwards. The analogue signal will be switched off and replaced with a digital signal that you will need special equipment to receive. They need local volunteers to help raise awareness and make sure no one misses out on the help that is available to make the necessary changes.  read more ...  (15/01/11)
